My own “Emo” music

February 27, 2008

ok…Music…it has been a pretty important part of my life…

from playing the violin in the 5th grade to guitar lessons from Chris in high school, or playing the french horn for 7 years. its always been a big deal.

I love how music is nostalgic. (Vocabulary Points?) Whether its a certain song you danced to on a road trip, or the song you listen to on a date or someone you cared about…music will always bring you back to that place in your mind.

i was just thinking about that last night and here are a couple of bands/songs that just brings tears to my eyes or joy to my heart when i hear them.

Lack of Color – Death Cab for Cutie

Any Nickel Creek (Doubting Thomas, Cant Complain etc etc)

Neon – John Mayer

Our Lady Peace (CDs Spiritual Machine and Happiness is Not a Fish You Can Catch)

Motorcycle Drive by – Third Eye Blind

those are just a few of mine…what are yours??

Scribe…

February 14, 2008

At the BSM we are copying the book of Romans into composition books for a team going to Iran because Iran doesn’t allow Bibles into the country.  I made a Facebook event to get it noticed so some people can come help and got some responses. I’d like to thank those who have come out to help! We need all the hands we can get.

But I was looking throw the notebook today and I was thinking…” This is going to be someone only means of the Word of God.” and thats crazy.

As I flip through the pages I see all the different handwriting styles. You can tell when Leah wrote in it or when Andrew or myself have written in it.

And while I’m writing down the words…I have never been so careful…I have never been so worried about messing up a word or where to put the period or comma. I’m not just writing a paper….I’m not writing in my journal or a letter to someone. This is going to be someone’s Bible….every pen stroke requires my upmost concentration. I don’t know why but it hit me real hard emotionally. I almost was brought to tears while writing down those beautiful and powerful words that I take for granted….

Well if you read this and go to UMHB. Please stop by the BSM and write down a couple of verse!

Mystery Solved!!!!

February 12, 2008

So…apparently….myself and everyone around me when I discovered my mystery girl….dont know how to tell Military time. it was 20:31 and for some reason i thought it was 10:31 maybe because of the “0″ but the correct time in a 24 hour day is 8:31…and I was at the intramural basketball game then. In my yelling at the players or cheering for our guys I left my phone unattended. and here is an actual picture of  Ghost Girl in Non-Ghost form.

CARRIE NORWOOD!

I know that looks nothing like her! but i was sitting on my couch monday morning and i got a phone call…i asked adam to hand me my phone and that picture popped up. I threw my phone on the ground and we huddled around it….contemplating whether or not i should answer it….but i did and it was Carrie…she sits next to me in MIS and i explained my situation to her and i was relieved i did not die in the next couple of days.

Response to SuperBowl

February 4, 2008

Ok. I am upset about the Patriots losing. Yes, but what annoys me more is the fact that all of these Cowboy fans all of sudden became Giant fans.

Everyone has been telling me and Daniel that our team lost and choked….when THEIR team (the Cowboys) didnt even make it to the superbowl and lost to the Giants as well….I dont understand those Cowboy fans…are they jealious of the patriots?? Them wanting the Giants (their big time division rivals) to win the superbowl is like Duke fans wanting North Carolina to win a National Championship or Yankee fans cheering when the Red Sox win a World Series…or its like me (an Astros fan) wanting the Cubs or Cardnals to win anything…..it makes me sick….

Here! Present!

February 3, 2008

I was thinking about this yesterday in a conversation with my good friend Julie Haynes about my name.

In all of days in school…the first day of school was always the worst. I hated sitting a class with a new teacher…not because it was Accounting or History…it was because of Roll Calling….teachers have just butchered my name, e.g. Kh-ang, Kong, Chang, Kwong, and Kink. yes….Kink….

Then I was thinking about infants that know me like Koby and Rylor…who not only forget my name after they have seen me in like 8 months but pronounce it correctly… I just find it odd that 4 year olds can remember my name 8 months from know but my Management Information Systems teacher can’t pronouce it and I see him 3 times a week and correct him every time….

Maybe I should just take the “H” Khang…and just leave it at Kang…or I should just give my kids really simple American names like John or Matt so they wont have to go through this….any suggestions??
